Convert AVIF to JPG

Convert AVIF images to JPG in seconds, right in your browser. No upload, no signup and no watermark. You can adjust the quality before converting.

Your file never leaves your device.

How to convert AVIF to JPG

The AVIF is decoded on your device and re-encoded as JPG with the browser's own graphics engine. Because nothing is uploaded, even dozens of photos convert quickly and privately. JPG is the most compatible image format in the world: every phone, computer, website and printer accepts it.

  1. Step 1: Choose your AVIF file

Drag and drop a .avif file onto the converter or click to browse. It works on desktop, tablet and phone.

  2. Step 2: Pick the quality (optional)

Keep the recommended setting or adjust it, then the conversion runs instantly.

  3. Step 3: Download the JPG

Save each result individually, or download everything as a single ZIP when you convert several files.

Good to know

  • JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white.
  • JPG is a lossy format; the quality setting balances file size and sharpness (85-92% is visually lossless for most photos).
  • Photo metadata (EXIF, GPS location) is removed from the converted image, which is good for privacy.

Why use this AVIF to JPG converter?

  • Batch conversion: drop several images at once and download a ZIP.
  • Nothing is uploaded, so personal photos stay private.
  • Original resolution is kept.
  • No watermark, no account, no app to install.

Is it free?

Yes. Converting AVIF to JPG is free, with no watermark, signup or email required. Local conversions have no artificial file-size or daily cap; the practical limit is your device.

Is my file uploaded?

The AVIF file is processed entirely in your browser. It is never uploaded, never stored and never seen by anyone, so this is safe for confidential files.

About the formats

What is AVIF?

AVIF (AV1 Image File Format) stores images compressed with AV1, the royalty-free video codec from the Alliance for Open Media. It usually produces smaller files than JPG and WebP at similar quality, and supports transparency, animation, wide colour gamut and HDR. Current versions of the major browsers display it, but support in desktop editing software is still catching up.

Use AVIF to serve lightweight, high-quality images on websites, ideally with a JPG or WebP fallback for older browsers. For files that people need to open, edit or print with everyday software, JPG or PNG remain the safer choice.

What is JPG?

JPG, or JPEG, is an image format named after the Joint Photographic Experts Group, which created the standard in the early 1990s. It uses lossy compression that discards detail the eye barely notices, so photos take up far less space. It does not support transparency or animation, and every time you re-save a JPG it can lose a little more quality.

Use JPG for photographs and images with smooth colour gradients that you want to share, upload or email at a small size. Avoid it for logos, screenshots with text or anything that needs a transparent background; PNG handles those better.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is AVIF to JPG conversion free?

Yes. It is free, with no watermark, signup or email required. Local conversions have no artificial file-size or daily cap; the practical limit is your device.

Will converting AVIF to JPG reduce quality?

JPG uses lossy compression, but at the default quality the difference is not visible for normal use. Raise the quality setting for print or detailed graphics.

Is the image resolution changed?

No. The JPG keeps the exact width and height of the original. Use the Resize Image tool if you need smaller dimensions.

Is it safe to convert avif to jpg here?

Yes. The work happens on your own device with WebAssembly and browser APIs, so the file is not uploaded at all. You can even disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Everything runs in a modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari) on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. There is no app, plugin or account.
