Convert RTF to PDF

Turn a RTF document into a PDF that looks the same on every device. The conversion uses LibreOffice on our server and the file is deleted automatically afterwards.

Your file is deleted automatically after conversion.

How to convert RTF to PDF

PDF is the safest way to share a RTF document: the recipient sees exactly your layout, fonts and page breaks, and nobody can accidentally edit it. This tool renders the RTF with the LibreOffice engine, the same open-source office suite used by millions, and produces a standard, printable PDF with selectable text.

  1. Step 1: Choose your RTF file

Drag and drop a .rtf file onto the converter or click to browse. It works on desktop, tablet and phone.

  2. Step 2: Convert on a secure server

The RTF is uploaded over HTTPS and rendered to PDF in an isolated temporary folder, usually in a few seconds.

  3. Step 3: Download the PDF

Save the PDF file to your device. You can start again with another file right away.

Good to know

  • Page size, margins, headers, footers, footnotes and page breaks follow the original document.
  • If the document uses an unusual font that is not embedded, a metric-compatible font is substituted so line breaks stay the same.

Why use this RTF to PDF converter?

  • Keeps layout, fonts, images, tables and page breaks.
  • Text in the PDF stays selectable and searchable, not a flat image.
  • Files are deleted automatically right after conversion.
  • No Microsoft Office or Adobe Acrobat licence needed.

Is it free?

Yes. Converting RTF to PDF is free, with no watermark, signup or email required. Local conversions have no artificial file-size or daily cap; the practical limit is your device. This server-based conversion accepts files up to 25 MB.

Is my file uploaded?

This conversion needs a server engine, so the file is uploaded over an encrypted HTTPS connection, converted in an isolated temporary folder and deleted automatically as soon as the result is sent back. Nothing is kept, logged or shared.

About the formats

What is RTF?

RTF (Rich Text Format) is a document format developed by Microsoft that stores simple formatting like bold, italics and fonts alongside plain text. It was the default format of WordPad and early versions of Microsoft Word. Because RTF files can be read as text, they open in almost any word processor.

Use RTF when you need basic formatting in a document that must open in older or minimal word processors. It is a good bridge when the exact software on the receiving end is unknown.

What is PDF?

PDF (Portable Document Format) reproduces a document exactly as it was laid out, regardless of the device, operating system or software used to view it. It is the standard choice for sharing, printing and archiving documents whose appearance must not change. Text-based PDFs can be converted to Markdown, plain text or HTML here.

Use PDF whenever the layout matters more than editing, reports, invoices, contracts, résumés and anything you need to share or print so it looks identical everywhere. Choose PDF when recipients should see exactly what you saw, with no fonts or margins shifting.
