TIFF (Tagged Image File Format)
TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) was created by Aldus in the 1980s and is now maintained by Adobe. It is a flexible container that can store images uncompressed or with lossless compression such as LZW, and also supports layers, multiple pages, high bit depths and CMYK colour. That makes it a staple in print, professional scanning and archiving, at the cost of large files.
Use TIFF when you need maximum quality for printing, scanning documents, archiving originals or passing images between professional editing tools. Browsers generally do not display TIFF, so for the web or email convert it to JPG, PNG or WebP.
