YAML (YAML Ain't Markup Language)
YAML is a text format for structured data that relies on indentation instead of brackets or tags, which makes it easy to read and write by hand. It supports lists, key-value maps, comments and multi-line strings, and is largely a superset of JSON. It is widely used for configuration in tools such as Docker Compose, Kubernetes and CI pipelines.
Use YAML for configuration files that people edit by hand, where comments and readability matter. Be careful with indentation, since a misplaced space changes the meaning. For data exchanged between programs, JSON is stricter and less error-prone.
