Convert ODP to TXT

Convert a ODP presentation to plain UTF-8 text in seconds. The file is read directly in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and the result is ready almost instantly.

Your file never leaves your device.

How to convert ODP to TXT

This converter reads the structure of the ODP presentation, including headings, paragraphs, lists, tables and links, and writes it out as plain UTF-8 text. It is ideal for search indexing, word counts, translation tools, scripts and anywhere formatting gets in the way. The engine runs locally with WebAssembly, which means large files convert quickly and privately without waiting for an upload.

  1. Step 1: Choose your ODP file

Drag and drop a .odp file onto the converter or click to browse. It works on desktop, tablet and phone.

  2. Step 2: Let it convert

The ODP is parsed on your device and turned into TXT automatically; there are no settings to worry about.

  3. Step 3: Download the TXT

Save each result individually, or download everything as a single ZIP when you convert several files.

Good to know

  • Each slide becomes its own section, in slide order, including the text of titles, bullet points, tables and speaker-visible text boxes.
  • Images, animations and slide transitions are not carried over; only the text content is extracted.
  • Password-protected files must be unlocked in the original application before converting.

Why use this ODP to TXT converter?

  • All formatting is stripped, leaving only the words in reading order.
  • UTF-8 output keeps accents, symbols and non-Latin scripts intact.
  • Tiny files that open in any editor on any operating system.
  • No upload, no queue and no account: the file never leaves your device.

Is it free?

Yes. Converting ODP to TXT is free, with no watermark, signup or email required. Local conversions have no artificial file-size or daily cap; the practical limit is your device.

Is my file uploaded?

The ODP file is processed entirely in your browser. It is never uploaded, never stored and never seen by anyone, so this is safe for confidential files.

About the formats

What is ODP?

ODP is the presentation format of the OpenDocument standard (ODF), an open, ISO-standardised format. It is the native format of LibreOffice Impress and Apache OpenOffice Impress. An ODP file is a ZIP archive containing XML, with slides, images, notes and transitions. PowerPoint and Google Slides can open it, although complex animations may not look identical.

Use ODP when you create presentations in LibreOffice or need an open format for archiving or public-sector work. If you will present from PowerPoint, PPTX is the safer choice, and PDF is best when the audience only needs to view the slides.

What is TXT?

TXT is the plain-text format: raw characters with no formatting, styles or embedded objects. Because it makes no assumptions about the reader, a TXT file opens in any text editor, terminal, phone or device. It is the most compatible format that exists.

Use TXT for notes, logs, code and any content that must remain readable in every tool, now and in the future. Choose plain text when you need universal compatibility and have no need for formatting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ODP to TXT conversion free?

Yes. It is free, with no watermark, signup or email required. Local conversions have no artificial file-size or daily cap; the practical limit is your device.

Will the TXT keep the formatting of my ODP?

No, and that is the point: TXT keeps only the text. Use the ODP to Markdown or ODP to HTML tools if you want to keep headings, lists and tables.

What happens to images inside the ODP?

Images are not embedded in the output; the converter focuses on the text and its structure. If you need the images, export them from the original application.

Is it safe to convert odp to txt here?

Yes. The work happens on your own device with WebAssembly and browser APIs, so the file is not uploaded at all. You can even disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Everything runs in a modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari) on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. There is no app, plugin or account.
