Convert PPT to TXT
Convert a PPT presentation to plain UTF-8 text in seconds. The file is read directly in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and the result is ready almost instantly.
Your file never leaves your device.
How to convert PPT to TXT
This converter reads the structure of the PPT presentation, including headings, paragraphs, lists, tables and links, and writes it out as plain UTF-8 text. It is ideal for search indexing, word counts, translation tools, scripts and anywhere formatting gets in the way. The engine runs locally with WebAssembly, which means large files convert quickly and privately without waiting for an upload.
Step 1: Choose your PPT file
Drag and drop a .ppt, .pps, .pot file onto the converter or click to browse. It works on desktop, tablet and phone.
Step 2: Let it convert
The PPT is parsed on your device and turned into TXT automatically; there are no settings to worry about.
Step 3: Download the TXT
Save each result individually, or download everything as a single ZIP when you convert several files.
Good to know
- Each slide becomes its own section, in slide order, including the text of titles, bullet points, tables and speaker-visible text boxes.
- Images, animations and slide transitions are not carried over; only the text content is extracted.
- PPT is the binary pre-2007 Office format. It is read directly, so you do not need to resave it as pptx first.
- Password-protected files must be unlocked in the original application before converting.
Why use this PPT to TXT converter?
- All formatting is stripped, leaving only the words in reading order.
- UTF-8 output keeps accents, symbols and non-Latin scripts intact.
- Tiny files that open in any editor on any operating system.
- No upload, no queue and no account: the file never leaves your device.
Is it free?
Yes. Converting PPT to TXT is free, with no watermark, signup or email required. Local conversions have no artificial file-size or daily cap; the practical limit is your device.
Is my file uploaded?
The PPT file is processed entirely in your browser. It is never uploaded, never stored and never seen by anyone, so this is safe for confidential files.
About the formats
What is PPT?
PPT is the binary presentation format used by Microsoft PowerPoint up to version 2003. A single file holds slides, text, images, charts, speaker notes and transitions. Related extensions are .pps, which opens directly as a slideshow, and .pot, used for templates. Since PowerPoint 2007 the default is the XML-based PPTX.
Use PPT only for compatibility with very old versions of PowerPoint or with legacy systems that require it. For new presentations, PPTX is lighter and more reliable, and PDF is the safest way to share slides that nobody needs to edit.
PPT (PowerPoint 97-2003 presentation)What is TXT?
TXT is the plain-text format: raw characters with no formatting, styles or embedded objects. Because it makes no assumptions about the reader, a TXT file opens in any text editor, terminal, phone or device. It is the most compatible format that exists.
Use TXT for notes, logs, code and any content that must remain readable in every tool, now and in the future. Choose plain text when you need universal compatibility and have no need for formatting.
Plain Text (TXT)Frequently Asked Questions
Is PPT to TXT conversion free?
Yes. It is free, with no watermark, signup or email required. Local conversions have no artificial file-size or daily cap; the practical limit is your device.
Will the TXT keep the formatting of my PPT?
No, and that is the point: TXT keeps only the text. Use the PPT to Markdown or PPT to HTML tools if you want to keep headings, lists and tables.
What happens to images inside the PPT?
Images are not embedded in the output; the converter focuses on the text and its structure. If you need the images, export them from the original application.
Is it safe to convert ppt to txt here?
Yes. The work happens on your own device with WebAssembly and browser APIs, so the file is not uploaded at all. You can even disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Everything runs in a modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari) on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. There is no app, plugin or account.
